Some really smart chick on these here blogs said that I should make apple pie filling with the rest of the apples off the tree. And I did... and on this first rainy night of Sept I made some absolutely decadent apple crisp.
All that was needed was french vanilla ice cream. This will be remidied tomorrow. :D

So did you do oats or no oats? LOL, you need to post this to the apple crisp thread at Amitys.
No oats... I am trying to stay within our food budget of $400 until the 26th so I didn't go get any.
It was:
1 c flour
1/2 c sugar
2 tea baking powder
1 egg
Mix all together and you will have a pie crust consistancy with little lumps and flakes.
then 1/3 c butter melted and poured over the top and cinnamon spinkled over the whole thing. Turned out great! Kids just got done with helping #2 as an afterschool snack. :D

I can't find the apple crisp post at amitys. lol...
Are these red or green apples? This looks delicious!
Yum! I really want to make a crisp; if we have time tomorrow (yeah right...we're packing for vacation) I want to go up and get apples and make a crisp for dessert. If I have the truck....
I do mine with gluten free flour, brown sugar, and room temp butter, mixed with the pastry cutter until coarse crumbs form.
HI Kimberly! So good to see you on here! I have to go see if your blog is up again! :D
Brie: I use gravinsteins from my dads tree. They are a crisp blush apple. I am from the apple state afterall... lol...
Using green apples or fugis would be the closest to what I did, but any pie filling recipe under this crust would work great!
