Deep Breath
The very hard two weeks is now officially over. Two PD memorials, 8 ten hour works days, and training... and it's done. We made it, and no one got hurt.
Last night, I blissfully had my husband put my children to bed and this morning I am checking my email ALL BY MYSELF for a few minutes. The Man took an extra two days off this next weekend to help make up for all the chaos, so this weekend folks, is 5 days long!! It will be like a mini vacation! I am trying to think of things to do on a shoestring budget... any ideas?

enjoy your free time :)
I like to do indoor picnics when the weather is cold (picnic blanket on the living room floor with the full picnic foods). Or you can have a reading day where everyone gets comfy with snacks and books (in the same room) and wears their comfiest clothes and reads until their little imaginations go crazy! Another fun idea is to set up a favorite movie and put a tablecloth in the center of the floor and put the popcorn popper in the center and let it pop the popcorn right onto the tablecloth. My kids used to think this was totally awesome when they were smaller!
Oh, and during the day -- museums. The kids run and explore and you two hold hands.
Go to thrift stores as a treasure hunt. We give each kid an item to search for that we know will be under a few dollars but can be used or collected with a future or present purpose.
If you have an animal shelter, they love volunteers to walk and play with the animals.
Learn to make something new. I find a project or skill once a week that no one has ever tried.
I hope you have a PEAR-fect week!
