I need some thoughts...

Can you guys comment on the music thingy that I have up? I haven't had that for a long time and I put it on there when I was needing to convey more than just the words, but the feel of what we were going through. That post is now on page two and I think I can remove the music player... but I wanted opinions on whether you guys liked it, or not. I am totally ok either way as the service it was to me is now complete... so please, give honest comments. Thanks so much!

Nothing personal. I don't like music on any blog. I am the type that is easily distracted. When I read I need silence.
I do love reading your blog!

I actually really like it and I've left your blog open when I'm done reading and gone on to other sites. I think it is great way to get a feel for what other people like to listen to.

I generally mute my computer before visiting blogs, because I don't like to be suddenly surprised by music.

Here is a second questions... would those of you who do listen to it turn it on if I didn't have it on Auto? Then those who don't like it, wouldn't automatically get it, but those who do like it, could find it??? Would that work?

Val

PS I leave it on while surfing sometimes too. I just really love music a lot. :)

Hey girl,
Funny you should ask this today. I shared your blog with a group of friends today and my friend Becca who is prego (going to ID to be her doula at her hb in May)mentioned that she loved it and wanted to copy it. She said you had a playlist for labor that she wants to steal! LOL On the other hand, as I'm typing this Adam is playing a video game....looked over at me and said "Is that your computer?" translation- "that's bugging me. Turn it off."
LOL But I usually just keep my whole computer muted all the time and only turn on the sound when I'm going to watch a video, so until today I had never heard the music on your blog.

Oh Jenn... I can make her a birthing cd via you. ;) I have tons of birthing music that I use when I am laboring. I'll give it to you later.

I love your music Val. I do my laundry and cleaning to it after my hubby goes to work. I think your idea about taking it off auto and making listening option would be perfect. enjoy the day:)

just remembered that I DID hear your blog music last night at your house, just not on MY computer until today, lol

I loathe music on blogs. Sometimes the computer I am using won't load those pages because it is a slow computer or the sound is too loud or you have multiple windows open and you can't find where the music is coming from or you have a sleeping baby and it wakes them up....

I have to admit that I am torn when it comes to music on others blogs. Sometimes it can bring something to a post that just the words can not. BUT... what you say (those opposed) is true... it can be a bother when you have a slow computer, or when you have your speakers turned up, but didn't notice because you were not listening to music at the time.

So... I think that I will leave the list up, but turn it off auto.

Thank you all for your suggestions! For those of you that do like my choices in music, please, let me know about music you find that is similar. I don't listen to the radio, so really, word of mouth is how I find tunes. :) THANKS SO MUCH!

Many blessings,

Val

I sadly took mine off from my blog but I really feel that sometimes music totally adds to the experience. I have found some really great songs from blogs that I love. Makes sense that if I enjoy their blog, I usually enjoy their music too! I like having the option to turn it on & I think I may end up doing that with mine too. I want to start adding more how-to videos (I'm learning a new program at school) and thought it owuld be too confusing to have to turn the music off for the video. There's my 2 cents...

I love to hear other peoples play lists it often introduces me to new artists. I like it.

I don't like visiting blogs that have music that turns on automatically. If you want to have a playlist, I like it better if it's optional for the rest of us to listen to -- that way I don't have to scramble to find the mute button when I'm surfing my blogs... already a big improvement with the music turned off, thank you!

I appreciate the music very much as it does introduce me to some new artists and songs (and some that I get to say ohhh...I love that song!) It also gives your readers even more of a sense of who you are. I say keep it but on the home page so people can have the option of muting it. Really, how difficult it to just hit mute or pause?

It is so mixed! I never would have thought. Hmmm...

I know you will come up with a great solution for this! It sounds like music plays a large part in your life and how you express yourself. If that's true, keep it!

I'm a little late with my vote but I don't like music on blogs. I always turn my speakers off if someone has music. I find the music distracting. I like to read quietly.

I love your music. The other day I was reading your blog and then navigated away and my 5 yr old said (from the other side of the room), "hey, I was listening to that" and my husband said "yeah that was good", so I went back and just left it open for a couple of hours. I'm glad there is an option to turn it on so we can keep hearing your good tunes :)

I'm glad you kept the play list up -- but appreciate that not everyone wants to listen.

By the way, was it hard to create?
