Apple Stump Doll House

Don't these stumps just look like somewhere fairies would live? Heather and I thought so! :) Her dad is a master woodworker, and so we asked him how to make these beautiful stumps into doll houses for our kids for Christmas. He made Heather's kid's for her and he helped me clean mine out and get it ready to put onto the base.

I used poplar for the rooms and pine for the base. The poplar has a bit of purple and green in it. It's SO pretty! I traded for a bunch of the stuff inside the houses from Bella Luna Toys.com.... the mama there was wonderful! The little mushrooms were off another site that I don't remember, but I just LOVE them.

All ready for Christmas morning!

Picture quilt

There is a big long story behind this quilt, but I will just say I am VERY glad to be done with it... and I think it turned out really cute! :)
On another note, it is my brother Chani's birthday!

Well Loved Kitchen

The kids are really enjoying the kitchen. I love that they were able to both get a gift from us that they love so much. A lot of the time I find it really hard to bring new toys into the house because they are so specificly for one of the kids. But with wooden and waldorf toys, they are so open ended that the kids are able to bring their own ideas to the games they play. Of course, this means that Cyan makes us eat the same things over and over and Alex is making picnics for his bears and menus. But I love it. It feels right for our family.

Putting on the finishing touches

I attached the faucet today. I found one at the Re Store downtown. I think it will work great!

Almost done with the kids birthday present a month late. Don took this picture of me 'in action' today. :)

7 and 2!!!

Wow, these kids are getting so big! Their party was lots of outdoor fun with water games and sprinklers. It was a great time! Here are some pictures of present time:

Along with their kitchen, I painted their play house last week for their birthdays. It should be a great place to hang out for the rest of the summer.

Happy Birthday to Alex and Cyan!!

The kid's kitchen is almost done! It was so easy to make I was surprised. I made it out of a couple boards that I found in my dads garage, and some craft stuff from Home Depot. The plans were these ones: FamilyFun: Kids Sized Kitchen I was really happy I got to pull off such an earth friendly version. Now just need to find a faucet.

Heather and I got together and got them this awesome set of kitchen stuff. She said she had tons of fun picking all the stuff out from goodwill. Some of it is really great stuff!

I also got a whole bunch of play food from Waldorf Play.com. What a great site!!

I was hoping to get them these too, but it didn't work out. Maybe for Christmas.:

So dedicated...

It is amazing what will keep these kiddos attention! Today it was her musical toy blocks and her sippy cups. She got them all out of the basket in the kitchen, put them lined up on the floor, and proceeded to put a block in each one, put the lid on, take the lid off, and then take the block out. Over and over and over again. Then she slowly moved to the table, and did it all over again. She was doing this for nearly an hour. It was pretty amazing to watch!

And just for fun, a cute picture of daddy and the kids:
