Market Monday

My list for this week: carrots, strawberries, sungold tomatoes, curly kale, Italian kale, celery, peaches, nectarines, Roma beans, romaine lettuce, Bing and Rainier cherries, artichokes, leeks, a dozen eggs, green and purple beans, broccoli, dill, parsley, mint, cilantro, and golden beets.

I cannot even begin to guess how many pounds of produce I moved around all day today. But it was a lot. Like measured in tons. Wow. I am one tired mama. But happy. After market today we were called by the farm owner, Heidi. She said, point blank, "DO NOT bring any squash or beans home. The cooler is too full. Give them away or to a food bank if you have to. Do not bring them back." So I took them home to share with my friends. It is hard to imagine what 12 boxes (ie: approx 500lbs) of produce looks like... but measuring by toddler this is about it:

Here are wax beans, Roma beans, green beans, patipan squash, zucchini, Italian zucchini, crookneck squash, and purple beans. There is even some radicchio thrown in there because it was in the same box. lol!

I consider this an amazing gift! And luckily, I have friends who appreciate it as well. A group of us is getting together tomorrow to can beans. I have some amazing gifts in my life... my friends and my job are both counted among them. :)
