A day in China

This morning started with a mad dash to the Advent Calendar.  They found four red envelopes I made from this pattern with Kanji stamps on the front that stood for Love, Peace, and Faith

Each had a chocolate coin from China in it along with a card that said “We are going to China today!”

We went to co-op and did our classes and on the way home we picked up some egg rolls and wonton soup for lunch.

I served them in some actual ‘China’ my mom gave me years ago with even a covered dip cup to put the plum sauce in!

Alex read us “The Monkey King” over lunch and we talked about chop stick etiquette. (A great video for that can be found on the Kung Fu Panda Special Features.)

For dinner we had chow mien and talked more about chopstick etiquette.  Then we made wonton cookies for dessert!  They were SO good!

The filling was easy.  Equal parts dates, cranberries, unsweetened coconut flakes, and raw almonds all ground in the food processor and put into purchased wonton wrappers and fried in coconut oil until brown and crispy.  (About 3/4 of a cup of each makes a whole package worth of cookies.) Logan dusted a bit of cinnamon and powdered sugar over the top and they were done.

We ate our dessert by the light of Kung Fu Panda and watched an awesome special feature when it was done about the making of noodles:

It was an amazing day and I am looking forward to the next country!

I think this one is about to come true.  Winking smile
