A good day to be in love with a garden.

It’s a good day to be in love with a garden.

The wind is nippy but the sun is out, the sky is blue, and the birds are light in the air.  This morning I woke up with a headache that has just gotten worse as the day wore on.  We had no major plans, except Logan’s 100 month birthday.  I spent a little time gathering and making things for this mini celebration of the kid who always must be celebrated and I struggled through the rest of my day.  Throughout the hours, as the pain got bad, I would head out to the garden for some peace.  The new dog fence has awarded me space from the small humans and the small animals alike.

A garden in spring is a generous host.  It rewards its patrons with new things to see each day.  Today the beans were pushing out their first green leaves towards the sun and the second round of lettuce was sprouting.

The cilantro has come up and the carrot tops are starting to get fuzzy.  Bumble bees buzz so loud that I can hear them over the traffic of the nearby main streets and the trees, with their beautiful new plumage, are starting to block the city noises and create a buffer between my garden and the rest of the world.
