Book-Based Percy Jackson Birthday Party

In honor of my son's 10th birthday we turned our house into Camp Half-Blood from Percy Jackson and the Lighting Thief!
Just like in the book, we put a bunch of blue food on the table.  Blue food was important to Percy's mom because her horrible husband said there was no such thing as blue food, so any time she could, she would bring blue food home.
The gift bags were a bag of golden chocolate coins and they were placed next to wonderful snacks, made blue.
We also added a bunch of strawberries because that is what Camp Half-Blood grew and sold to keep the camp going.
And of course, blue cake:
The big event for this party was, of course, capture the flag!  They were split into teams and handed a big flag to hide.
For two hours, these kids battled with swords and found flags over 3 acres of my neighbors wonderful yard.  The girls joined in and the game got even better.  We always need a daughter of Athena to spice up the fight...
