Disney Sweet Sixteen Birthday Party

Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess who's dream was to have an enchanted Sweet Sixteen with all her friends in the kingdom...
Of course, at first she had some emotional ups and downs...
"Woooohooo!  Best. Day. Ever." - Rapunzel
"I am a despicable human being." - Rapunzel
"Too weak to handle myself out there, huh, Mother?  Ha-ha!" - Rapunzel

At her party, the walls had been painted with hopes and dreams.
And the food was on theme with all of her fairytale friends:
The tables had been decorated with her favorite gals in mind:
Slowly, as the evening continued, the kingdom filled up with fairy tales and characters:
"Remember that your the one that can fill the world with sunshine." - Snow White
"Gaston, oh he's so cute!" -French town girl
"With a dreamy far-off look, and her nose stuck in a book." -French Town Folk
“Here’s where she meets Prince Charming, but she won’t discover that it’s him ’til chapter three!” – Belle
"And also, it's my birthday, just so you know..." - Rapunzel
"Our fate lives in us. You only have to be brave enough to see it." -Merida
"Look at this stuff.  Isn't it neat?" - Ariel
"So, Kevin's a girl???" - Russell
"A wilderness explorer is friend to all, be it plant or fish or tiny mole." -Russell
"We didn't realize we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun." - Christopher Robin
"A dream is a wish your heart makes..." -Cinderella
"A lady doesn't start fights... but she can finish them." - Marie
"Who says my dreams have to stay just my dreams?" - Ariel
"So come with me, where dreams are born and time is never planned.  Just think of happy things and your heart with fly on wings, forever." -Peter Pan
"Fairies have to be one thing or the other, because being so small, they unfortunately have room for  one feeling only at a time."  -JM Barry
"Have you ever seen anything so wonderful in your entire life??" - Ariel

This party was amazing!  So much fun to plan with my daughter and execute.

To go along with Cyan's costume choice, Rapunzel became a mini-theme through out the party.  The backdrop I painted on a huge refrigerator box that I got for free from a local appliance store.  (They have pretty much guaranteed a customer next time we have to make a appliance purchase due to how many boxes I have gotten from them over the last few years.)  It cost me a total of $12 in spray paint and I think it created quite the statement!

I made this lamp out of the lamp that hangs on our patio and some tea-stained paper.  I printed the sun from Tangled on it, and then tucked it inside the lamp.  Inside it, I put our Pulse 2 speaker, and played Disney soundtrack songs through the lamp.  As the sun went down, we turned on the Pulse 2's special feature, lights!

The speaker has a feature that makes it look like a candle.  So I added this to the inside of the lamp and it turned out so cool looking!

The invitations were sprinkled with a little magic:
I cut out a Disney castle with a friend's Cricut and added the glitter in the general path of Tinkerbell at the beginning of every Disney movie.  My daughter and I wrote the words to the invite:

We added the card with the Walt Disney quote and sent them off to her friends!

We ended the night by lighting and setting off flying lanterns.

The favors were 'glass slippers' with 'true love's kisses' tucked into them.

All in all, I think it was a huge success.  Now that I edit the photos, I can see that this party was really a success because of the amazing girls that decided to cosplay to honor my daughter's birthday!  I can't believe all the creativity and beauty that came out of these gals!

Stunning. Just totally stunning. My 8-year-old is going to freak out when she sees this! :) You should offer a party-styling service, Val. You are soooo good at this! I always get part way, get exhausted and buy the rest at the last minute. :P :)

Wow. I am blown away. What I love is how the girls dressed. Not all of them even dressed very fancy, but it seems more real that way- like every girl can be a princess. Very, very cool!
