On carrots and kings...

Oh wait... isn't that supposed to be cabbages? Oh well. This is about carrots. So there.

In my garden, I was graced to already have a crop of a few things. Namely, onions, carrots, peas, and kohlrabi. Yes, kohlrabi. Strange... but that is what was planted in there when I bought the house and I don't have the heart to tear it all up, even though we won't eat it, and even if we did, I could get it for free from the farm. lol...

But back to carrots. Did you know that carrots are a biannual? They only seed once every two years, so if you do not pull them out of the ground, they will flower and seed the second summer. and look like this:

Remind you of something? Yes, they are not so distant cousins of this streetside favorite:

I have a whole row of carrot flowers right now:

I am not sure what to do with them. I need a spot for beans, so maybe the kohlrabi and carrot flowers will go to make room for that... but I just find it so facinating watching them bloom!
