Garden update

We have finally gotten some sun. The last four days have been downright hot! We went from 70* weather with rain, to 90* weather and nothing but blaring sun. For the most part, it has been wonderful, but wow! What a change!

The garden has BURST in that amount of time. Everything is growing in inches every single day. We got 3 1/2 pounds of peas off of our plants this afternoon, and there will be easily that much tomorrow.

We got over a pound of lettuce, kale, and chard today, and made most of it into a wonderful dinner salad. With buttered peas on the side, it was an amazingly fresh, wonderful meal!

The kids gardens are starting to bloom as well...

Cyan's first bachelor button from her wildflower garden:

And behind it in the picture above, Logan is finding some fun garden friends who are also enjoying this new found bounty.

My very first ever, home grown artichoke. It is only about 3 inches wide... but what a gift! I am sure next year I will get many more of these delights (and others) from my perennial plants, but for now I am content to watch them bloom in all their cactus flower glory and eat buttered peas instead.

Many happy gardening wishes!

I love posts like this! Your garden is growing so well -- amazing!

We harvested 3 heads of lettuce, 2 green bell peppers, 3 tomatoes, our very first EVER watermelon (Yay!!), some basil and parsley -- all in one day.

And I think I've convinced Mark to let me start a micro-farm in our backyard next year... FUN!!! :-)
