It's raining, it's pouring....

And we canned about a million jars of beans last night.

My friend Heather first set up our bean stations outside in her big backyard. She has a whole canning set up that is AMAZING! Huge Bunson burners outside with up to 4 canners going at once. Two huge tables that she uses for her History class that we can use for prep and washing stations. An amazing set up!

We haven't seen rain in about two months... maybe more. And so no one thought that it was actually going to rain. About half way through the first box (we had 4 to can, the rest got donated to other friends and good causes) it started sprinkling. By the time we were done with the first box, the whole operation had to be moved inside because it started pouring. It hasn't stopped yet. I am LOVING it, although it makes for a terribly sluggish type morning.

The blueberries have been just waiting for a day like this. Rain is the perfect thing to make the blueberries ripen, plump and sweet. I hope the guy I ordered them from is picking today and not yesterday.... because whoever gets berries today will get sweeter berries. And I sorta want that to be me. ;)

Pictures to come of the mass bean canning adventure. I forgot my camera so I have to get them emailed to me.

I didnt can this year but helped my neighbor can apricots and every berry imaginable. She has 100+ jars of jam now for just her and her hubby! :) I cant wait to can in Florida because it will be just about year-round!
