Happiness in all shades of green

I love our homeschool room. It has been a solace in this house since we put it together. It is warm and inviting, but not mind numbing as some soft colored rooms are. It is just really beautiful!

Well, this last week I have added elements to it that have made it even better.

First was the Papisan (above) that had been stored in the garage since we pulled up the carpet. It was brought in to create a reading area. The mosquito net that is around it was around Logan's baby cradle. It give the spot a wonderful 'nook' quality. Cyan spent all morning in there with her cat and reading her newest thrifted book (cat is still in there).

Next was these WONDERFUL thrifted shear curtains, cutting the harsh light from this end of the room, but taking away very little light overall. I mounted them with large sticks instead of a curtain rod. I really love that look and feel like continuing it through out the house... but I will refrain. My husband says it looks like there are sticks on the wall. I love it... but he is right. There are sticks on the wall.

None of that would have had room to fit if we had not gotten these new homeschool tables. My kids are constantly complaining about one of them shaking the table while the other is trying to write. So for the last three months I have had two full sized tables (the same ones I use for my fine arts class) out at all times so they can each have their own space. Well yesterday, while walking through Ikea, I saw these wonderful little tables. They are PERFECT... Like really perfect. When pushed together, 6 people can sit at the space comfortably with no issues. When pulled apart, they are slightly over sized desks. I don't think I could have dreamed up more perfect tables for my space needing children.

This is not in the homeschool room, but it is making me happy all the same. These dishes were at two different thrift stores. The same adorable design, three different sizes, and a large white Pyrex bowl to match. All found the same day that I found the curtains. I felt like I had hit the jackpot!

And as if that haul wasn't enough, this nearly brand new hurricane lamp was there too:

I am a happy shopper today!

Youve created such a great space for your kids! If only all schools were as cozy as your little school maybe we would not have as many problems with the educational system.

I too like the sticks on the wall but could hear my husband saying the exact same thing...must be a cop thing:):)
Question: what kind of oil do you burn in your lamp? I get nauseous with the kerosene that came with them and don't know what to use.

I like the sticks too. Love your thrift store find. I was just talking to my husband about getting one for us... it's too funny that we have so much in common.
