Fairy Garden Party Invitation

Cyan’s birthday is coming up fast! This year she turns the big 1-0!  A couple months ago she very seriously told me that she wanted a grown-up party… with Garden Fairies as her theme.  My sweet grown-up girl.  I started looking for ideas that were more grown up and yet still had that magical quality that she would love.

Here is her invite:

The scroll has a poem I wrote for Cyan along with all the party info.  It reads:

____________________________

There are fairies at the bottom of our garden!

It’s not so very far away….

You pass the garden gate and just keep straight ahead –

I do hope they’ve come to stay.

~

There are fairies at the bottom of our garden!

In the clover you will see them.

On the rock covered in moss.

It doesn’t seem like they would dare,

To frolic and make merry there.

~

There are fairies at the bottom of our garden!

The fairy queen likes to play,

Hiding in flowers along the way,

As children pass by she may look out,

or even dare to walk about…

~

There are fairies at the bottom of our garden!

Their gnome piper, piping sweet,

for them to dance with merry feet,

and by chance for you to meet,

At the bottom of our garden.

~

Come on wings or your light little feet to our garden to celebrate Cyan’s 10th birthday on the enchanted evening of July 13th from 6:30 to 10pm. We will be serving a dinner of tiny treats, making magical crafts and ending our night with a very fairy movie! Please come join us for an enchanted time at

**** **th Ave E, Yourtown, WA *****

RSVP regrets only to the Fairy Queen at (***) ***-****

I printed this on a half sheet of parchment and then took the edges and burned them a bit to give the paper an even more weathered look (I brushed the edges of the paper with a wet paint brush first to make sure that the words were not singed.)  I then hot glued a stick to the top and bottom.  Then we rolled them up with flowers we pressed from Cyan’s flower garden last year and tied them with red polka dot ribbon.  The whole effect is very charming!

I just love my girl. Her version of ‘grown-up’ is just perfect for this reluctant-to-let-her-girl-grow-up mama. I have tried to make her a party that has all the magic of a little girls party, but has a lot of class and grown-up elements. No plastic plates and cupcakes for this party!  Stay tuned…  I can’t wait to show you what I have come up with.
