Strawberry flowers and look at me grow!

These beauties will turn into wonderful strawberries in about two months time. I can't wait. Last year the plants were stunted becuase I had to transplant them late. I was terribly sad about the fact that we only got a handful of berries after the plants produced baskets and baskets full. This year looks good so far.

Every week this garden gets more full and taller and I am just loving it. I added the prayer flags from under the patio due to us getting a new grill and fire hazzard. Then I added the bird house Alex made me. I LOVE it out there.

Hello, friend! I have been lurking around here for a few weeks, and wanted to say HI!
Your blog is lovely, your children beautiful, and your choice of quotes, perfect! Love Jamie, and Clare, all of the Outlander books!
Love and light to you, new friend.

Thank you! Always good to meet a new friend. Do you have a blog for me to admire?

Val

PS Diana Gabaldon is a wonderful author. I just got HellFire (the one about Lord John) from the library. Can't wait to see what she does with the character. ;)

Hiya Val!

I saw your comment on my blog. I have been way too busy to write. So much going on. We move house this week (where we will have the most fantastic garden - I can't wait to get to work in it...when I find time, lol.) We were in Spain last week (see AW for all related updates on that one...) and my felt exhibit is in a couple weeks and I am so not ready for it. Busy??? Who, me?????????? oi!

KT (Oh yes... you in England got a special nickname once again, out of necessity. Don't you feel special? lol... Love and miss you!) Will you be taking pictures of said garden? You know I love pictures.. and I need a few of those sweet girls too... Goodness, how I have been missing watching your girls turn into women. Cyan is doing all sort of super big girl things... I can't believe that she is going into 1st grade next year... I JUST got used to her being a kindergartener. Anyhoo... love you! And thanks for writing... I get worried something has gone wrong with you when I can't find posts from you. Don't make me worry woman. ;) And send pictures. :) *smooch*

Katie, THANK YOU! I think your yard is pretty great too. ;) I have been thinking that you and I should read the same book and compare notes. Right now I am reading "Extreme Simplicity; Homesteading in the City" I am LOVING it. Not all of it can be used (or even wanted too... sorry, but I never thought about the idae of giving up my grass completely), but, in the spirit of the book I looked at the pic of your yard and saw places for all sorts of fruit trees, a chicken coop, all sorts of stuff... not that you need to do any of this... but seeing the true potential of ones land is fun. :D Would you email me your address? I will drop that book in the mail for you (Fast Food Nation) when I go to the po next time.

Beautiful garden! Love the prayer flags, you can tell it's a loved place.
Strawberries are pretty easy to grow, aren't they? I'll have try that next year.

They are. They basically want good soil (like most things), water when its hot (but not in the sun) and a goodly amount of sunshine. They are self spreaders... so about two years after you have a set of 12 plants or so, you will have 50 plants and more strawberries than you can eat. Easy... and fun... and terribly rewarding. :)
