Remodeled kids kitchens!

In all my infinite wisdom, I decided that right now would be a great time to take on two remodeling projects. Yeah... I am completely nuts. I swear, sometimes I just add on stuff to see how much I can take before I loose my mind. lol.... but these turned out so great that next week (when I have slept for more than 3 hours per night) I may consider them completely worth it!

Enter, the kids new kitchen set!

Can you even recognise it? It is the set I got for $5 a piece at a garage sale a couple weeks ago!

When I bought it, I intended it for a friends daughter for her birthday... but as I was measuring it for the curtains (two doors broke in half while I was painting) I realised that it was the perfect size for my kitchen, where I wanted to put Cyan's... but hers was slightly too big. So I kept that one and revamped Cyan's play kitchen for this little friend of ours.

It has been loved a lot. :) In antiquing these two, I had a couple bumps... in the form of Sharpie pen that just would not be covered, no matter how many coats I put over it. It looks ok now... but seriously, it took 20 coats on small parts of both of these (the top set was in a day care pre-garage sale. Ie; even worse shape than ours.) to cover them well enough to then beat up and sand down. lol!

I think the details made this second one. I love the fabric I chose for the curtains, and the way the leaves in the trim wood popped out when I sanded it down. It looked so nice! I can't believe I didn't do something like this years ago!

The gift went over splendidly yesterday, and I hope she (and her younger sister and brother) get many more years out of this baby!

Alex's birthday party tomorrow is the last party of the month. And thank goodness because I am just beat! I had a really hard time finding the strength to get to the store to get my sons cake... But in the end, all I had to do was think about my sweet little boy-turn man and I got up at 9:30 last night and went. I will be happy when this week is over... but I wouldn't miss a minute of it!
